Haak'u Museum

ATTENTION: The SP 22 road construction project began on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. T he 100-day construction will be completed on October 26, 2010.  SP 22, Katsiima Drive, starts at the Acoma Cultural Center, and continues to the Acoma-Laguna reservation boundary.  During construction, Road SP 22 is closed at Exit 108 off I-40, and traffic is being diverted to Exit 102 off I-40.  Only emergency vehicles have access to road SP 22.

ALTERNATE ROUTE TO THE SKY CITY CULTURAL CENTER: Take Exit 102 off I-40, and turn right.  Follow the curved road to the stop sign.  At the stop sign, turn right.  Go approximately 5 miles, and turn left.  Travel the 11-mile scenic route to the Sky City Cultural Center.  Please call (800) 747-0181 if you have questions.

Take a journey into Acoma’s past and present. The Haak’u Museum showcases the southwest Native American culture of the Acoma Pueblo Indians. Intriguing museum exhibits chronicle the history, highlight Native American artwork and explore traditional customs in modern Acoma life.

Located within the 40,000-square-foot Sky City Cultural Center, the Haak’u Museum also serves as an education and research institute focusing on the preservation of Acoma history, the revitalization of lost art forms, and the retention of traditional language.

Current hours of operation:  9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.  Last tour of the day:  5:00 p.m.
 
Hours reflect seasonal hours of operation for the Sky City Cultural Center & Haak`u Museum.  However, Acoma Pueblo participates in traditional annual events, so times and dates are subject to change.  Please check our calendar for closures or early closures or call 1-800-747-0181 for more information about times and dates we are open.
